Revive Physiotherapy & Aquatic Centre Launches Falls Prevention Program for Older Adults

Revive Physio Centre is pleased to announce the launch of its new Falls Prevention Program, a focussed initiative to support the health, safety, and independence of older adults. This programme, which will be held weekly on Wednesdays at the physio centre in Naxxar, is designed to equip seniors with practical strategies and guidance to reduce fall risks, stay active, and maintain confidence in their mobility.

The program was officially launched on November 13th in a special event at Revive’s courtyard, bringing together attendees for an insightful presentation on the benefits of exercise and physiotherapy, especially tailored for older adults. The event was led by Marco Attard Vella, Head of Physiotherapy at Revive, who emphasised the critical role regular exercise plays in enhancing balance, strength, and overall physical health. Attendees also took part in a live demonstration, followed by a Q&A session where they could learn more about falls prevention and the specifics of the new programme.

“Falls are a significant concern for older adults, and the right preventive measures can make a huge difference,” says Marco Attard Vella. “Our goal with this new programme is to empower individuals and to enhance their quality of life”. The program is built on proven exercises that address four key areas, including strength maintenance, balance and coordination, cardiovascular health, and mental wellness. We are confident about the positive impact this new program will have on our participants, and we look forward to helping more people take charge of their health.”

Falls are a leading health concern for older adults, with approximately one in three individuals aged 65 and older experiencing a fall each year. Such falls are the primary cause of injury-related hospitalisations, leading to loss of independence, financial strain, and considerable emotional distress. Through structured and consistent education and physiotherapy, many of these falls can be prevented, giving older adults the strength, balance, and confidence they need to maintain their quality of life.

The launch of the Falls Prevention Program is testament towards Revive’s commitment to expand its service offerings and towards providing meaningful, proactive solutions to the community. The program’s weekly classes will be held on Wednesdays within Revive’s purposely built rehabilitation gym.
